Hierarchical black hole mergers in young, globular and nuclear star clusters: the effect of metallicity, spin and cluster properties

چکیده
ABSTRACT We explore hierarchical black hole (BH) mergers in nuclear star clusters (NSCs), globular (GCs) and young (YSCs), accounting for both original dynamically assembled binary BHs (BBHs). find that the median mass of first- nth-generation dynamical is larger GCs YSCs with respect to NSCs because lighter are ejected by supernova kicks from lower clusters. Also, BH masses strongly affected metallicity progenitor stars: primary a merger ?24–38 M? (?9–15 M?) metal-poor (metal-rich) NSCs. The maximum mainly depends on escape velocity: up several thousand form NSCs, while host hundred M?. Furthermore, we calculate fraction at least one component pair-instability gap (fPI) intermediate-mass regime (fIMBH). In fiducial model BBHs Z = 0.002, fPI ? 0.05, 0.02 0.007 (fIMBH 0.01, 0.002 0.001) YSCs, respectively. Both fIMBH drop order magnitude solar metallicity. Finally, investigate formation GW190521 assuming it either nearly equal-mass BBH or an ratio inspiral.

متن کاملYoung star clusters: Progenitors of globular clusters!?
Star cluster formation is a major mode of star formation in the extreme conditions of interacting galaxies and violent starbursts. Young clusters are observed to form in a variety of such galaxies, a substantial number resembling the progenitors of globular clusters in mass and size, but with significantly enhanced metallicity. From studies of the metal-poor and metal-rich star cluster populati...
متن کاملThe Nuclear Star Cluster of the Milky Way: Star Formation, Dynamics and Central Black Hole
High spatial resolution, near-infrared imaging and spectroscopy of the nuclear star cluster have given key new insights about the dynamics, evolution and mass distribution in the Milky Way Center. The central parsec is powered by a cluster of hot, massive stars which must have formed a few million years ago. Either star formation was triggered in the central parsec by the infall of a very dense...
متن کاملCompact Binaries in Star Clusters I - Black Hole Binaries Inside Globular Clusters
We study the compact binary population in star clusters, focusing on binaries containing neutron stars and black holes, using a self-consistent Monte Carlo treatment of dynamics and full stellar evolution. We find that the black holes experience strong mass segregation and become centrally concentrated. In the core the black holes interact strongly with each other and black hole-black hole bina...
متن کاملHigh-spin binary black hole mergers
We study identical mass black hole binaries with spins perpendicular to the binary’s orbital plane. These binaries have individual spins ranging from s=m2 0:90 to 0.90, (s1 s2 in all cases) which is near the limit possible with standard Bowen-York puncture initial data. The extreme cases correspond to the largest initial spin simulations to date. Our results expand the parameter space covered b...
